Sacramento unknowns mid 80s art school type with keyboard to prove it, falling into the messthetics type craze. Somewhat reminds me of the laughing apples first EP. Never seen another copy of this thing around, please comment if you have any information on this lost sacramento band. Cover will be posted tomorrow.

To Damascus- Succumb
Released in 1985 on Ringent Records, this LA band, featuring Sylvia Juncosa of SWA and the Leaving Trains produced a combination of post-punk, jangle pop (not unlike the Feelies), garage and even earlier LA punk like TSOL and Agent Orange. Juncosa sings like she is pumped fulla novocaine. Initially Juncosa, Tom Hofer and Jason Kahn, by the time the record was finished Hofer and Kahn had left to be replaced by Tyra von Pagenhardt and David Winogrond of SS-20 on drums. A review of the record described it as "the album that Jim Morrison and Jimmy Page would have made if they surfed and listened to Husker Du and Love." I feel that description is fairly accurate. They put out one single before this LP, "Another Place, Another Time/On a Pier," one more LP, entitled "Come to Your Senses," on Restless Records, and were also featured on the compilation, "Warfrat Tales" and Juncosa had continued to release solo material into the early 90s.

The Meantime- Self-Titled 7"
From Davis, California, this band produced only this EP in 1981 on their own Inbetween Records. The band consisted of Sean O'Brien (Guitar and volcals), Russ Tolman(Guitar), Rick Gates (Guitar, vocals and bass) and Kevin Vanderhoof (Drums). Tolman had previously been in the Suspects, another great Sacramento area power pop band featuring Steve Wynn, who later went on to form Dream Syndicate. Following this release their name and style changed as they became the semi-legendary paisley underground band, True West, although most the members were eventually phased out, leaving only Tolman. O'Brien also went on to form Denim TV and the Mariettas. "Two For One" was produced by David Gates of Bread. Great American power pop!

Sewer Screw- Paradice Slaves
Sorry folks for the lack of a cover. The copy of this I have is missing its cover and it can't be found online.
These guys come from Citrus Heights, a suburb of Sacramento, California, around the mid-late 90's. The band primarily consisted of Shane from Identity Crysis and Infectious Garage Disease and Greg Johnson from the Anal Babies and After Dark Club. While they were the only guys involved in the recordings, members of the Drags played guitar and bass with them for their live shows. Through their brief career they released 4 demo cassettes including: Ultradick, Screw Unto Others, Regular Sized Monster and Evilseed. They also released 3 7's including: Paradice Slaves, Ultradick and Life and Limb. This 7', Paradice Slaves, I believe was released in 1997 on Moist Dripping Records. I have read them described as Poison Idea mixed with the few good elements of Ministry. I think one could also compare them to bands like Big Black, Scumputer and Seats of Piss. Kinda cheesy at points, but I think its pretty tight.
