To Damascus- Succumb

Released in 1985 on Ringent Records, this LA band, featuring Sylvia Juncosa of SWA and the Leaving Trains produced a combination of post-punk, jangle pop (not unlike the Feelies), garage and even earlier LA punk like TSOL and Agent Orange. Juncosa sings like she is pumped fulla novocaine. Initially Juncosa, Tom Hofer and Jason Kahn, by the time the record was finished Hofer and Kahn had left to be replaced by Tyra von Pagenhardt and David Winogrond of SS-20 on drums. A review of the record described it as "the album that Jim Morrison and Jimmy Page would have made if they surfed and listened to Husker Du and Love." I feel that description is fairly accurate. They put out one single before this LP, "Another Place, Another Time/On a Pier," one more LP, entitled "Come to Your Senses," on Restless Records, and were also featured on the compilation, "Warfrat Tales" and Juncosa had continued to release solo material into the early 90s.
